Giacinta "Gia" Augusta Ferrara Araya
March 27th, 1950 - July 29th, 2025
Se saprai ricordarmi, sarò sempre con te
**Obituary for Giacinta "Gia" Augusta Araya**
Giacinta "Gia" Augusta Ferrara Araya, lovingly remembered as Gia, was born on March 27, 1950, in Palena, Provence of Chieti, Abruzzo, Italy. She passed away on July 29, 2025, in Happy Valley, Oregon, leaving a profound legacy of love and resilience.
Gia’s early education culminated in a graduation from Dover High School in 1969, a testament to her determination and pursuit of knowledge. After high school, Gia began her career at New Jersey Natural Gas Company, where she dedicated 25 years to serving as a customer service representative. Her exemplary work ethic led her to a remarkable record in sales, setting the company’s history alight with her achievements. In 1994, Gia relocated to sunny South Florida, where she continued her career as a sales representative for Florida Public Utilities, working passionately until her retirement in 2015.
Her greatest pride, however, was not only found in her professional accomplishments. Gia was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Alfredo Araya, and a nurturing mother to her daughter, Daniela Soares de Sa, and a proud grandmother to her grandson, Jayden Soares de Sa. She exemplified loyalty, generosity, and a vibrant energy that drew everyone to her warmth. Her home was often filled with laughter, love, and the enticing aromas of her beloved homemade Italian dishes, especially her renowned lasagna.
A true aficionado of life, Gia found joy in myriad interests—cheering for the NY Giants, exploring diverse cultures through travel, indulging in ceramics, savoring delightful espressos, and discovering good bargains when shopping. She was passionate about sharing her rich Italian culture with friends and family alike and hosting gatherings that created cherished memories for all.
Gia's family held a small private memorial to celebrate her life, reflecting the intimate bonds she nurtured throughout her years. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, honoring her fight against this disease.
As we remember Gia, let us carry forward the inspiration of her unwavering spirit—a testament to the profound impact of love, hard work, and family. Her legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she cherished, forever reminding us to embrace life with joy and generosity.
Rest in peace, dear Gia. Your light will always shine brightly among us. May your memory be a blessing.
