Kathleen Jean Hansen

Kathleen Hansen of Arvada, Colorado passed away peacefully on September 12th, 2025 at 81 years of age in her beloved home.

Kathleen was born to Howard and Davina Thoms in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa, and a Master of Business Administration degree from John F. Kennedy University in Orinda, California.

Kathleen married Richard Olaf Hansen and they moved to the United States where they became U.S. citizens. Richard pursued a career in Physics and Kathleen worked as a Technical Writer/Editor at various organizations and companies. Kathleen was a “cat person” who established and ran an online cat store CattyCorner.com for twenty years.

Kathleen is survived by her sister-in-law Lenora Hansen, sister Ruth Thoms (Roger), brother Howard Thoms, and sister Doris Dunn (Brian). She was a loving aunt to Sharon Douma, Tom Douma (Stephanie), Laurel Douma (Casper), and Ken and David Haldenby. She was also a grandaunt to Jacob Sorensen, Emily Douma, and Liam and Elijah Haldenby.

Many thanks to the caregiver from CareLinx and the nurses from Elevation Hospice who attended Kathleen in her final days.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Arvada United Methodist Church, 6750 Carr Street, Arvada, Colorado on Saturday, October 4th at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family wishes that donations be made to an animal shelter or the charity of your choice
