In Loving Memory of James Culver Bryant
James Culver Bryant passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, in Falls Church, Virginia, with his beloved sons by his side. He was 85 years old a life well-lived, full of purpose, love, and service.
Born in San Francisco, California, James was the cherished son of Sidney and Evelyn Bryant, and the devoted husband of Meg Falk, all of whom preceded him in death. He carried their love and values with him throughout his life, shaping the man he became.
James’s journey was one of deep commitment to his country, his family, and the countless lives he touched. He served in the United States Navy for 26 years, rising to the rank of Commander as a Naval Aviator. His military career was marked not just by honor and leadership, but by a quiet strength and humility that earned the respect of all who served with him.
After retiring from the Navy, James found a new calling in helping others heal. He became a Clinical Social Worker and Hospice Counselor, offering comfort and guidance to those navigating life’s most difficult moments. His work with the Arlington County Sheriff's Department and his membership in the National Association of Social Workers reflected his unwavering dedication to service.
He continued to serve those in need with his renowned private practice in psychotherapy. This also led James to become a gifted writer and thinker. He authored five books that explored healing, intuition, and purpose works that continue to inspire and uplift. His words were a reflection of his heart: thoughtful, compassionate, and deeply human.
Above all, James was a family man. He is survived by his sons Scott (Claudette) and Gregory (Kelly), and was predeceased by his son Steven. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren Christophe, Arielle, Danielle, Giselle, Angeline, David, and Jessica and great-grandchildren Isabel and Vincent. Each of them carries a piece of his wisdom, his kindness, and his love.
James will be remembered not only for what he did, but for who he was: a man of integrity, empathy, and quiet grace. His presence was a gift, and his absence leaves a space that can only be filled with memories, stories, and the love he gave so freely.
A private memorial service will be held by the family. He will be laid to rest in Arlington Cemetery at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a hospice or veterans’ organization in James’s honor.
