Phyllis Ann Wynn
September 10th, 1946 - September 30th, 2025
In Loving Memory of Mrs. Phyllis Ann Wynn
Mrs. Phyllis Ann Wynn was born on September 10, 1946, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late James Wynn and Ruth Manley Wynn. She peacefully went home to be with the Lord on September 30, 2025.
Phyllis was the eldest of six children and cherished each of her siblings deeply. The Wynn family were devoted members of Taylorsville Baptist Church in Portsmouth, where her mother often hosted Bible study in their home. It was there that Phyllis’ strong Christian foundation was formed—one that guided her throughout her life.
She attended I.C. Norcom High School in Portsmouth, Virginia, before moving to New York, where she earned her GED. While in New York, Phyllis pursued her calling in healthcare, completing nursing school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She dedicated many years to the nursing profession, serving with compassion and skill at the Lutheran Nursing Home as well as in private duty nursing.
Phyllis had a vibrant spirit and a love for people. She enjoyed entertaining, spending time with family and friends, and sharing laughter—often accompanied by her signature good-natured “talking smack.” In
her later years, nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by her great-grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Briggs; her son, Antoine Wynn; two siblings, Patricia Wynn and James “Maverick” Wynn; and her sister-in-law, Nancy Wynn. She leaves to cherish her memory two granddaughters, Antoina Wynn and Tenisha Wynn; five great-grandchildren, Benjamin Lewis Jr., Jayce Wynn, Charlii Wynn, Aubree Wynn, and London Wynn; and three siblings, Carol Wynn, Faye Parker (Milton), and Parish “Biggie” Wynn. She is also survived by three nieces, Monique (Chimarlo) Wynn Bexley, Chiquita (Eugene) Simms, and
Kimberly Wynn; four great-nieces, Shantise Wynn-Brown, Jiekera O’Neal, Kimyah O’Neal, and Cyniah Wynn; two great-nephews, Jalek O’Neal and Keon O’Neal; along with a host of extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Phyllis will be remembered for her strength, faith, and the love she shared so freely with all who knew her.
