Lois Mae Maddox (nee Hall), born May 20, 1936, died October 6, 2025. Lois Maddox passed away peacefully in Jackson, CA, with her daughter, Nanci by her side, at the age of 89. She was born to Claude and Lillian Hall in Port Huron, MI. Her family moved from there to South Bend, IN and eventually settled in Sacramento where she graduated from high school. There she also attended North Sacramento Methodist Church where she met the love of her life Ronnie “Ron” Maddox in 1955. They married July 21,1956 at North Sacramento Methodist Church. They eventually settled in San Jose, CA in 1961 where they raised their four children. In 1991 Lois and Ron moved to Jackson, CA and immediately immersed themselves in the Jackson United Methodist Church until it closed, as well as various other local activities.

 

 

 Lois loved to bowl and was in league bowling both in San Jose and Jackson for many years. She was also one of the founders of Break Bread With Friends in Jackson, which helps feed the local homeless a warm breakfast and bag lunch every Saturday. Lois was also very active, and served in numerous positions, with various Beta Sigma Sorority Chapters from 1960 through 2022. 

 

 Lois is survived by her four children whom she dearly loved and who dearly loved her: Nanci Maddox-Haynes and husband Mike of Jackson, CA; son, Douglas Maddox and wife Karen of Capitola, CA; daughter, Karen Taiariol of Lancaster, TX; and son, Craig and wife Debora Maddox of Concord, NC.

 

 She is also survived by nine grandchildren: granddaughter, Jillian Haynes and wife Arika; grandson, Travis Haynes; grandson, Dustin Haynes; granddaughter, Courtney Holliday and husband Matt; grandson, Ryan Maddox and wife Emily; granddaughter, Kristin Capasso and husband Alex; granddaughter, Lindsey Nason and husband Grant; granddaughter, Caitlyn Maddox and step-grandson, Wesley Murph.

 

In addition, she is also survived by the following nine great-grandchildren; Mackenzie McDade; Alexis Holliday; Hunter Holliday; Gage Nason; Makaella Murph; Christopher Murph; Lilian Murph; Mackenzie Murph; and Daniel Murph.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie “Ron” Maddox; her parents, Claude and Lillian Hall; her sister and best friend, Judith “Judy” Rutherford; her grandson, Joshua Haynes and nephew, Eric Rutherford. 

 

 

The family would like to thank Jackson Hills Assisted Living for going above and beyond with the extraordinary care and compassion they had for our mother.

 

 Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Creekside Methodist Church, 14 Main Street, Sutter Creek, CA 95685. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Interfaith Food Bank. Services entrusted to Amador Hills, Jackson, CA.
