Joyce Ilene (Betts) Weyers, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in Denver, Colorado on October, 15 2025. Born on August 22, 1940, Joyce was a twin, arriving just twenty minutes before her sister Jeanette, much to the delight of their parents, Linnea and John Betts, and their older siblings, Joan and John. The twins' arrival in the small town of Kitteridge, Colorado, created quite a stir, completing the Betts family of six.

Joyce spent her early years in Denver, where she embraced the joys of being a twin. She and Jeanette often played pranks on friends and family, dressed alike by their mother. Joyce enjoyed spending her summers in Parker at the family farm where her cousins’ raised cattle. Growing up in a Masonic family, Joyce was actively involved in the Rainbow Girls, served as Worthy Matron in Eastern Star, and was a Guardian for a Job's Daughters Bethel. A proud graduate of East High School in 1958, she held various clerical positions before meeting, Sam Weyers, at AAA Colorado. They married in June 1965.

In 1975, Joyce and Sam expanded their family through the adoption of three First American siblings from Canada, reuniting them after a difficult start in separate orphanages. Following her divorce, Joyce continued her career with the Department of Labor and Employment in the State Compensation Insurance Fund department, retiring early at age 55.

Joyce’s adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively for 22 years in an RV with her twin sister and brother-in-law Warren Neudorff (deceased) visiting every state in the country and fulfilling her dream of spending at least one week in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. They relished exploring national parks, lighthouses, and missions, while always making time to connect with family and friends along the way.

In 2016, Joyce returned to Denver to be near family. Her bond with her twin sister was a cherished part of her life, and they continued to dress alike until Jeanette's passing in 2018. As Joyce faced the challenges of dementia, she maintained her cheerful and loving spirit, finding joy in family gatherings, church services, and her favorite Hallmark movies.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, her daughter Kim Martinez Arango, her son David Anthony Weyers, and her niece Elizabeth Hudson, John’s daughter. She is survived by her son Mark (Katie) Cardinal of Denver, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her joy. Joyce is also survived by her niece Christine Betts and her nephew Matthew Budde, both of whom are children of her brother John and reside in Denver, Colorado. From her sister Joan, she is survived by her nieces Cathy Lee of Cincinnati, OH, and Susan (Guy) Neff of Hudson, FL, as well as her nephew Walter (Laura) Steele of Pine Knoll Shores, NC. Additionally, when her brother John married Char, Char’s children were embraced by Joyce and the family and they are Cherie (Brian) McGrath of Belle Fourche, SD, Doug Dower of Spearfish, SD, and Cindee (Daryl) Wisnoski of Pine Haven, WY.

Also preceded in death by several beloved cats and her Sheltie, Master Cooper.

Joyce Ilene Weyers will be remembered for her love, kindness, and the joy she brought to the lives of those she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and family connection that will be cherished forever.

A celebration of her life will be held Monday, November 3, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Mile Hi Church Vogt Center Chapel at 9077 W. Alameda Ave in Lakewood.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice in Joyce’s memory.
