Joseph Eugene Palumbo
September 27th, 1945 - October 14th, 2025
On October 14, 2025, Joseph E. Palumbo, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his two sons. He was 80 years old.
Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Joe spent his early years playing baseball for the Joe Meat Market 9, where his pitching led the team to many victories. When he wasn’t on the field or spending time with his close-knit group of friends, affectionately known as the “Bronx Boys,” he was helping his father and brother run the family carwash or lending a hand with the family’s real estate business.
Joe proudly served in the United States Army Special Forces during the Vietnam War. While stationed in Germany, his missions took him to Vietnam and Laos, where he served his country with honor and courage.
After returning home, Joe married the love of his life, Diane, who had grown up in his neighborhood. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two sons, Joseph Jr. and Michael, first in Upstate New York before moving their family to Florida in the early 1990s.
Joe had a lifelong passion for classic cars, Harleys, and westerns—or as he liked to say, “watching his cowboys.” With his loud, vibrant personality and endless stories, Joe was truly one of a kind. Known as both a character and a wild man, he had a heart as big as his presence. He could give you a hard time one minute and a helping hand the next. Wherever he went, he made friends—and left an impression that will never fade.
Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife Diane Palumbo, his brother Tomas J. Palumbo, and his nephew John Palumbo.
He is survived by his sons Joseph Palumbo Jr. and his partner Melissa, and her son Steven; his grandson Anthony Palumbo; his son Michael Palumbo, daughter-in-law Pavla, and grandchildren Giada and Sebastian Palumbo. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joanie Palumbo, niece Palmela Palumbo, and nephews Tommy, Zachary, Michael, Christopher, and Brandon Palumbo.
Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His stories, laughter, and larger-than-life spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
