Janet C. Clouthier

Janet Clouthier, 83, of Palatine Bridge, NY, passed away peacefully the morning of October 21, 2025. She was born June 9, 1942 in the Town of Minden, a daughter of the late Willard and Evelyn Hayes.

Janet was known for her joyful spirit, sweet nature, and unwavering love for her large and loving family. She dedicated many years of service to the Central National Bank starting in Canajoharie, NY and serving in other local branches. Her warmth and kindness touched countless lives in her community, while serving their financial needs.

Janet found great joy in reading and crocheting—especially when creating handmade gifts for loved ones or charitable causes. But most of all, her passion involved spending time with her loving husband of 65 years and her children, grandchildren, siblings and the rest of her family. Janet also was an intense Scrabble enthusiast, battling nightly with her husband Ken.

Janet is survived by her husband Kenneth Clouthier, her two sons and two daughters-in-law Shawn (Janice) Clouthier of Coxsackie, NY, Scott (Michele) Clouthier of Brentwood, TN, four grandchildren Victoria (Kyle) Yost, Alexa (Chandler) Pulliam, Shelby (Oscar) Riley-Smith and Connor Clouthier. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, William and Harrison and soon-to-be born, Thomas.

Janet had several incredible siblings, and is survived by her sisters Joan Smith, Carrie Cunningham, Dorothy Johnson, Donna Laymon, Kimberly Yerdon and brother David Hayes. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Charlotte Wilson.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Janet’s life on Tuesday, October 28 at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, NY. Visitation and calling hours will be held at 10:00 a.m. and a memorial service at 11:15 a.m. A burial will take place at a later date. Indicative of her joyful disposition, one of her requests was for attendees to consider wearing bright colors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation (www.themmrf.org) and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
