Charles Elliot “Bud” Iverson Jr., 89, of Apache Junction, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025, @ HonorHealth Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, AZ.

Born August 3, 1936, in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood, Bud was the beloved son of Charles Elliot Iverson Sr. and Violet (née Larson) Iverson. He grew up in Chicago, where he developed the strong work ethic, loyalty, and love of family that defined his life.

Bud graduated from Proviso East High School in Maywood in 1954 and soon after enlisted in the United States Army. He completed basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and was stationed in Germany, where he formed lasting friendships and proudly served his country. He was honorably discharged on December 31, 1962.

During his military service, Bud married his high school sweetheart and became a devoted father to three children. He later remarried Gertrude “Trudy” Iverson, embracing her three children as his own and continuing to show unwavering love and support to his sons from his first marriage.

Bud spent many years working for Browning Ferris Industries (BFI) in Chicago, followed by Dan Lodesky Trucking in Gurnee, Illinois. He took pride in his work and was known for his dedication and reliability—values he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

A man of simple joys, Bud loved spending time with family and friends, sharing jokes, and caring for his beloved cats. His laughter was infectious, his stories unforgettable, and his love for those around him boundless. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Bud is survived by his children: Charles Lyle Iverson (Sandra), Vance Iverson, David Walbran (Karen), and Jackie Mortensen (Jeff); and his grandchildren: Katelyn, Hailey, Michael, Hayden, and Adison.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude “Trudy” Iverson; his parents; his sister, Barbara Amato (Pete); and his daughters, Darlyn Iverson and Michelle Walbran.
