Edwin Wesley Root, Jr.
February 27th, 1941 - October 10th, 2025
Edwin Wesley Root Jr 84 of Gig Harbor, WA passed away peacefully in his home Friday Oct 10 2025. Edwin was born Feb 27, 1941 in Chicago, IL. After graduation Edwin Served his country in the Air Force r4om 1959 until 1980. He served in many different places during that time including Viet Nam, Philippines, Iceland, Germany and several US states. After retiring from the Air Force he went on to work for the United States Postal Service where he was active in the union even serving as State Union President. He retired from the Postal Service in 2009.
Ed had many activities and hobbies including Ham Radio Club (KD7OKS), Search and Rescue, Kairos Prison Ministries, Goldwing Rider Association and amateur Photography. He loved to travel and spend time with his family and his many pets over the years.
Edwin is predeceased by his wife Georgia Gwen Roberts Root and his daughter Mary Alice Kryder. He is survived by his Son in Law James A Wood and daughter Lynn V Wood. Grandchildren Courtney L Kryder, Alexis A Wood and Lacey M Wood. Great Grandchildren Rylee and Mason Galloway. A Celebration of Life will be held Nov 1. 2025 from 1pm to 3pm at San Souci Mobile Estates Clubhouse at 11209 127th st SE Puyallup, WA 98374.
