It is with great sadness that the family of Theodore Leonard Cormier (Cavanaugh) announces his passing on October 22, 2025. Ted passed in the comfort of his home in Pioneer California near close family members. His passing was just days before his 77th birthday.

Theodore was born October 24, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Theodore Cormier and Frances Krummel. Ted’s love for travel started at a young age with the move from Louisiana to California. He ended up residing in Gilroy, California. This is where he met the love of his life, Maria A. Bettencourt, in 1970. Ted & Mary were married on February 12, 1972, and shared 53 years of marriage. Upon their journey they established residence in San Jose, Gilroy and Paicines California while raising their 2 children Jason and Jenna and making friends along the way. After retirement Ted, Mary and Uncle Eddie found their way to Eugene Oregon. After Oregon Ted, Mary and Eddie found themselves back in California in the small mountain community of Pioneer. Ted had a love for the outdoors and was drawn to the mountains, nature and the smell of fresh air.

Ted worked in residential construction for over 33 years. He was a hardworking and skilled man of many talents. Ted was an avid car lover. He enjoyed working on the 69’ Dodge pickup (Sherman the Tank) that Jason and Jenna learned to drive in. He loved working on the 1968 Camaro and many other Chevy vehicles through the years. Ted also loved making wood furniture and creating with his hands. Dad will be missed by family and friends.

Celebrating his memory is his surviving wife, Maria Cavanaugh (Pioneer, CA) Children: Ted Jr. Cavanaugh (Jeanna) of Burns, Oregon.  Jason Cavanaugh (Brandi) & Jenna Cavanaugh (Landon) of Hollister, Ca. Grandchildren: Holly, Justin of Burns, OR., Kevin and Kyle Edwards, Brooklynn, Riley, Mackenzie & Hunter Cavanaugh all of Hollister, CA. Eddie Bishop of Pioneer, CA.

Ted was preceded in death by his mother Frances and his brother, Leonard Cormier.
