Marlene Bowers
November 16th, 1946 - October 16th, 2025
Marlene Bowers, 78, passed away unexpectedly October 16, 2025, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Marlene was born November 16, 1946, to James Wilbur Anderson and Wavalene Clark Anderson in Greenville, Kentucky.
Marlene attended high school in Dyer, Indiana. She married Daniel Smith on September 25, 1965, and together they had four children. Most of their marriage they lived in Florence, Colorado. After Jim’s passing, Marlene returned to Colorado Springs where she resided until her death.
Marlene worked many jobs during her life, but her favorite was as a reporter for the Daily Record in Canon City, Colorado. She also enjoyed her time working as a medical records transcriptionist for the Department of Corrections. Marlene loved reading novels, doing crossword puzzles, and camping and fishing in the mountains at the lake. She will always be remembered by her children and grandchildren for her love of family and strong Christian faith.
Marlene was preceded in death by her father James Anderson and her spouse Jim Bowers. Marlene is lovingly remembered by her mother Wavalene Anderson, by her sister Tudy (Mick) Latulip, by her three brothers Jim (Mikim) Anderson, Tim (Jill) Anderson and Rick Anderson, by her four children, Daniel (Lee) Smith, Thomas (Kris) Smith, Paul (Faith) Smith, Paulette (Bruce) Bass, and by eleven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
It was Marlene and Jim’s wishes to have their ashes spread together at their favorite lake.
