Joyce M. Sjogren, 99, of Fort Collins died September 26, 2025 at Centre Avenue Health and Rehab. Joyce was born May 26, 1926, at Alexandria, Nebraska, to Arthur and Cecile (Cane) West. She grew up on a farm in Nebraska along with five siblings. She was married to Douglas Sjogren at Belvidere, Nebraska in 1950 and they soon welcomed their two children, Terri and Mack.

Joyce attended college at Kearney, Nebraska; then finished a degree in business at Colorado State University in 1969. After receiving her degree she went to work for a water engineering firm and spent many years working there. She has lived in Fort Collins since 1965.

Her family, as well as her friends, were very important in her life. Other interests included volunteering at the Fort Collins Lincoln Center, the Colorado Division of Wildlife, and the Adult Literacy Program. Special activities Joyce participated in were many and varied. They included playing golf and bridge, reading, skiing, hiking, weekends at the family cabin in Poudre Canyon, interest in wildflowers and birds, as well as being a devoted member of Plymouth Congregational Church.

Doug and Joyce traveled extensively after their retirements and those trips were unique and special memories. Their travels included visiting all fifty states including two trips each to Alaska and Hawaii, and five trips to Europe.

Joyce's husband Doug passed away in 2016 after 66 years of a very interesting and happy marriage. She is survived by her son Mack Sjogren of Lakewood, Colorado, daughter Terri Sjogren of Fort Collins and two granddaughters Brita LaTona and Alison LaTona of Fort Collins. Along with her husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Sam LaTona, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Joyce was a strong yet gentle spirit; compassionate, intelligent, generous and kind. She will be lovingly remembered by her family as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and will be missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

A memorial service will be held at Plymouth Congregational Church, 916 West Prospect, Fort Collins on Friday November 14, 2025 at 2:00 pm. Suggested memorial contributions are to Plymouth Congregational Church, 916 West Prospect Rd., Fort Collins, CO 80526; Neighbor to Neighbor, 1550 Blue Spruce Dr., Fort Collins, CO 80524; or The Nature Conservancy, 2424 Spruce St., Boulder, CO 80302.
