Jeanie Helton passed away peacefully in her home on October 27, 2025, on Hilton Head Island, SC. This was the place she lived and loved for the past 30 years.
Jeanie was born on September 12, 1938, to her parents, Bill and Flo Law, in Maryville, TN. She graduated from Tennessee Tech. She married Gene Helton in 1961 in Maryville. Shortly after, they moved to Chicago, IL, where Gene began his career. Their life journey took them from Chicago to Franklin, KY, to Augusta, GA, to Camden, SC, and Medfield, MA, before retiring on Hilton Head in 1992. Jeanie devoted her life predominantly to being a homemaker and raising their daughters.
Jeanie had wonderful retirement years with Gene playing golf, refining her bridge game, traveling, volunteer activities and spending time with beloved family and friends.
Jeanie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gene; her daughters, Cindy Cross and Melissa Hanna; son-in-law, Bob Cross; grandchildren Madeline and Olivia Cross as well as Tori and Sophia Hanna.
There will be a memorial service for Jeanie on Monday, November 3rd, at 11:00 am at the Island Funeral Home on Hilton Head Island, SC. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jeanie’s life.
