Helen Maxine (O’Toole) Rafter, 96, of Saint Paul, born February 24, 1929, died October 28, 2025. Preceded in death by her husband, Jack; and son-in-law, Bob Heutmaker. Survived by son, Mike (Amy); daughter Cathy; and son Tim (Karen), including her 7 grandchildren; Jake Rafter; Jimmy (Makella) Rafter; Molly (Brian) Yardley; Matthew Heutmaker; Megan Heutmaker; Patrick (Caci) Rafter; Christopher Rafter and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Dinah Robbins and many nieces and nephews. Helen was a graduate of Saint Mark’s Catholic School and Saint Paul Central High School. In 1953 she married John Michael Rafter and built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. As Administrative Assistant and bookkeeper to Jack’s several businesses throughout their life together, Helen championed a three year move abroad arranging unforgettable memories for her family. They shared 65 beautiful years of marriage, weathering life hand in hand.
To her grandchildren, Helen was the heart of the family - a gentle guide, comfort, and the most pristine example of patience and positivity. She taught them the value of kindness, and the joy found in simple moments together.
Helen’s legacy of love and care lives on in all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family. Her memory will be our blessing.
