Jane Elizabeth Tutte Mayberry, 65, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Born on August 29, 1960, in Columbia, Jane remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life. She pursued her passion for storytelling, photography, and communication at the University of South Carolina, where she earned a degree in Journalism. Her professional journey led her to the South Carolina Department of Transportation’s Communications Department, where she dedicated herself to public service with clarity and commitment.
Jane was known for her loving and giving heart. Though she never had children of her own, she embraced the role of “Aunt Jane” with joy and devotion, touching the lives of many across the globe with her warmth and generosity, often counseling those in crisis.
She found great comfort and strength in her faith. A devoted Christian, Jane lived by the words of Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” This verse guided her through life’s challenges and inspired those around her.
In quieter moments, Jane enjoyed crocheting hats and blankets that she often gifted to others as tokens of love. She also had a fondness for classic movies, finding joy in their timeless stories and characters.
Jane is survived by her beloved husband, William Kenneth “Bill” Mayberry; her sister, Cathy Tutte Stevens (Danny); her mother-in-law, Shirley Mayberry; her sister-in-law, Revonda Hardesty (Terry); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; along with her furry 4-legged babies. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor Kenneth Tutte and Ellen McKenzie Tutte; and her father-in-law, Norris “Skip” Mayberry.
Jane’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her legacy of kindness and faith continue to inspire all whose lives she touched.
A special thank you to the staff of MUSC Providence and dear friends, Saundra Willis and Karen Nemeth.
