Lois Marie Cox

Lois Cox – age 86 of Colorado Springs, CO and formerly Alma, CO and Southgate, MI. died on October 24, 2025. Mother to Deborah Will of Allen Park, MI, Michelle (Chris) Hair of Colorado Springs, CO, and Grandmother to Zachary Perry of Lakewood, CO. Lois was born in Saginaw, MI and attended Michigan State University where she met and later married James “Frank” Cox who preceded her in death in 2012. They were married for 50 years. Lois worked as a secondary math and science teacher for 30 years mostly in Wyandotte, MI public schools. Her most favorite years however were when she and Frank retired and moved from Michigan to Colorado where they raised goats and had several exotic cats and dogs. They made and sold goat milk and cheese and Lois was known in their community as the “goat lady.” Lois loved all types of animals and had many throughout her life. She was also a faithful Catholic woman who found strength in her beliefs especially in challenging times. She especially loved St. Francis due to his love of animals.

Lois is survived by her eldest sister, Elaine DeWaele. Her parents Carl and Lottie DeWaele, her brother Donald DeWaele, and sister Arlene Raley preceded her in death.

She will be forever missed by friends and family.
