Carmen Muñoz, age 78, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Ybor City, Carmen graduated from Key West High School and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida. Her nursing career spanned several hospitals, including Tampa General, Brandon Hospital, and Woman’s Hospital, where she cared for countless patients with compassion and dedication. After retiring from nursing, Carmen shifted her focus to real estate, where she continued to thrive.
Carmen loved the outdoors. She enjoyed horseback riding and hiking and even hiked parts of the Appalachian Trail. Above all, Carmen cherished her role as a mother. Her greatest joy in life was her two sons, Robert and Steven. In her later years, she dedicated herself to building her real estate holdings, ensuring a lasting legacy for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy Montesino Canalejo and Robert Canalejo. She is survived by her sister, Linda Muñoz Kollmorgen (Dennis) of Windsor, Connecticut, her sons Robert and Steven Muñoz, and Andrea Galindo.
In accordance with her wishes, Carmen will be cremated and laid to rest near her parents in Oak Grove Cemetery. A celebration of Life Service is being planned for a later date.
