Mr. Robert Roy Nickerson, Sr. age 84, a resident of Eagle Lake, Florida, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Mr. Nickerson was born January 1, 1941, in Melrose, Massachusetts, to Roy G. and Pearl (Robinson) Nickerson, Sr. He was a Polk County resident for 60 years, coming from Boston, Massachusetts. Robert was a proud United States Air Force Veteran and attended Rollins Community College, receiving his bachelor’s degree in law enforcement. Robert devoted more than four decades of his life to serving and protecting his community. He began his law enforcement career with the Eagle Lake and Winter Haven Police Departments and went on to serve with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, where he retired as a Sergeant after 35 years of dedicated service. His 43-year career was a true reflection of his commitment, compassion, and unwavering sense of duty. Robert enjoyed attending Eagle Lake Baptist Church, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter – Debra L. King; and granddaughter – Amy Lea Hedge. Robert is survived by his loving family, wife, Ella Mae Nickerson; 2 sons, Ronald A. Nickerson and Robert Roy Nickerson, Jr.; 2 daughters, Donna Kay Nickerson and Dora K. (John) Malloy; and Stepdaughter, Lisa M. Rench. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, 15 grandchildren: David, Amber, Amos, Amy, Andrew, Ashley, Amanda, Jessica, Heidi, Lindsey, Allison, Joshua, April, Natasha, and Charlie; and 4 great grandchildren: Chase, Cash, Hayley, and Savannah. A graveside service will be held 11:00am, Thursday, November 6th at Auburndale Memorial Park, 1889 West Derby Avenue, Auburndale, Florida.
