Glyn Howells, age 76, passed away quietly October 23, 2025 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born December 6, 1948, in Manchester, England, to Glyn (senior) and Ellen (Livesey) Howells. Phyllis, wife for over 51 years, his sister Sue Howells and partner Mary Isemann, sister Lindsay and husband Mark Anderson in England, daughter Marieta Birt and husband Ste in England, along with grandchildren and great grandchild in England, nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends and a large military family will truly miss Glyn.

 

Chief Master Seargeant (CMSgt) Howells rose through the ranks as a ground radio technician, supervisor, and communications chief. Glyn was in the USAF for 30 years then 10 years as a contractor and civil servant. He was active duty from 14 February, 1971, to 23 February, 2001. CMSgt Howells served in Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States, plus many deployments and temporary assignments around the world. Glyn was awarded the Air Force (AF) Good Conduct medal with silver oak leaf cluster, AF Outstanding Unit award with 3 bronze oak leaf clusters, AF Achievement medal, AF Commendation medal, and Meritorious Service medal with 4 oak leaf clusters.

 

Glyn was an avid student, attaining an Associate of Arts degree with Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelor of Science degree with University of Maryland, Magna Cum Laude, and a Master of Public Administration degree through Troy State University.

 

Glyn had a number of interests. He became a certified scuba diver while stationed in Turkey. He enjoyed cooking, trying new foods, reading and great conversations with friends. Glyn had a story for everything! Volunteering for over 12 years at the Peterson Museum, he continued his commitment to service. Glyn was an interesting and integral part of the Peterson community. He stayed in touch with many former coworkers and airmen over the years and will be missed by people from England to USA.
