Ramona Marquez
March 7th, 1942 - October 19th, 2025
Ramona Marquez, la mejor Mamá, Grandma, y Bisabuela, peacefully passed away on October 19th, 2025 at the age of 83. As she crossed from this world to the next, she was surrounded by so much love from her children and grandchildren. Ramona, second born daughter to Susano & Leonides Marquez, was born on March 7, 1942 in San Bernardo, Guanajuato, Mexico.
She is preceded in death by her husband Rodolfo Marquez, her 5 children, one niece and her parents. She is survived by her four children, Gaspar Marquez, Martha Maria Marquez, Maria Iris Marquez, and Dorinda Melgoza Marquez; 8 Grand children, Juan Amado Delgado, Sarah D. Macias, Kristella Marquez, Octavio Melgoza, Yesenia Melgoza, Gaspar Marquez Jr., Ariana C. Marquez, Amanda Perez-Marquez; 6 Great-Grandchildren; Irie Marie Delgado, Sebastian and Valeria Melgoza, Makai McPhee, Maximus D. Macias and Zaius D. Macias; and her 8 siblings, along with many nieces and nephews.
Ramona’s memory is one of love and resilience. In 1967, she was the first of her family to migrate to Salinas, Ca. For over 30 years she tended the fields of Salinas, raised four children, helped care for her grandchildren, and continued to be a pillar of love and support for her siblings. She enjoyed cooking for others and was famous for her delicious mole, buñuelos, and tamales de cacahuate, and was also an avid knitter who never turned down an opportunity to make a blanket or dress for a baby born into the family. She especially enjoyed traveling to Arizona and Las Vegas with Martha and Dora to go to casinos, spending time with Gaspar eating pizza and watching soccer on TV, listening to rancheras, and dancing to live Mariachi. Ramona was known for always having a smile on her face, being happy, and truly enjoying others’ company; she loved to share her life’s stories.
Though her passing has left a void in the hearts of those who loved her, her memory lives on in the stories we’ll share, her jokes and dichos we learned from her, the recipes and remedios, her contagious carcajadas, the pictures, and most importantly, the love she gifted us.
Querida Mamá, we love you and will miss you until we are together again. May God keep you in his glory.

Healey Mortuary
At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
