Jack Edwin Jadwin
December 22nd, 1943 - October 31st, 2025
Jack Edwin Jadwin, 81, of Rotonda West, Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 31, 2025. Born on December 22, 1943, in Lowville, New York, Jack was the son of Frank Edwin Jadwin and Dorothy Elizabeth Atwell. Jack attended Lowville Academy and Central School before continuing his education at SUNY Brockport. A lifelong aviation enthusiast, Jack logged over 8,000 hours of flight time and trained at several renowned flight schools, including Burnside-Ott Aviation, the Hylan School of Aeronautics, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1963 to 1969. He began his career as a flight instructor from 1966 to 1971, sharing his passion for flying with countless students. Jack later worked as a pilot for Duflo Spray Chemical in Lowville, New York. In the 1980s, he transitioned to air traffic control, serving first at Boston Center and later at the Bangor Flight Service Station in Maine, where he worked until his retirement. Jack was predeceased by his beloved parents, Frank and Dorothy Jadwin; his wife and life partner of 43 years, Mary K. Strathdee; his brother, Gary A. Jadwin; his stepdaughter, Kelly Strathdee; his grandson, Sheldon Strathdee; and his great-grandson, Keiran Blackie. He is survived by his brother, Dr. Thomas (Susan) Jadwin; sister-in-law, Carolyn Jadwin; his daughters, Jennifer (Joseph) Oropallo of Colonie, NY; Jill (Shane) Gernand of Burnt Hills, NY; and his step-children whom he treated as his own; Kim Strathdee of Groton, NH; Tami (David) Fagerland of Bangor, ME; Douglas Strathdee of Goldendale, WA; Tracy Strathdee of Rotonda West, FL and Glenburn, ME and Grant Strathdee of New Durham, NH as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will fondly remember his wit, adventurous spirit, and enduring optimism. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Tracy for her loving care and devotion to Jack in his final years. Jack's legacy will live on through his family, his students, and the many lives he touched during his long and fulfilling journey through the skies. A memorial service to celebrate
Jack's life will be held in December, with details to be announced by the family.
