Maureen Evelyn Curtis
October 19th, 1942 - October 28th, 2025
Maureen Evelyn Curtis, 83, died peacefully Oct. 28, 2025, surrounded by family in Hazel Green, AL. She was the second born child of Jack and Helena Morrison, born Oct. 19, 1942, during WWII in Vancouver B.C., Canada.
Maureen married her sweetheart, Charles, June 26, 1958, and moved to Las Vegas, NV, soon welcoming their first three children, Cory, Tony, and Remona. Soon after their third child was born, they moved to Mountlake Terrace, WA. Then they welcomed two more children, Corrine and Kevin, into their home.
They moved to a few different places throughout their marriage including Hawaii, Oklahoma, Des Moines and Port Angeles. Hawaii being one of her favorite spots to go back and visit. She loved building memories with her family. Even becoming a snowbird to AZ for a few years with her husband.
She is remembered for being a pillar of faith and encouragement for all around her. Often giving sage advice while imparting much wisdom. Family was her priority. Maureen loved deeply and would do anything for them. Including sneaking a $20 in your hand before you left. Her love for children kept her young. Her family is blessed and able to glean much from her example. Maureen was an active member of Jackson Prairie Church before moving six months ago where she was settling into a new church family where she quickly became a favorite. She walked closely with the Lord and touched many lives along the way. She found it her mission to pass that legacy onto her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her five children, Tina (Rob) Reid, Cory Curtis, Tony (Wendy) Curtis, Corrine (Joe) Subitch, and Kevin (Diana) Curtis; her sister Patricia Gehring and brother William Morrison; 14 grandchildren; and 34 and counting great-grandchildren!
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Helena Morrison; her beloved husband Chuck; her precious daughter Remona Stettler; and grandson, Zachary Subitch.
A funeral is scheduled for Nov. 15, 2025, at 1pm., at Jackson Prairie Church 4224 Jackson Hwy, Chehalis, WA 98532, with a reception to follow. There will be a private graveside service following, with Pastor Bill Morris officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Maureen’s life.
