Kathleen “Kathy” Diane (Benson) Bergholz, age 82, of Cambridge, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, in Madison, surrounded by the love of her family.

Kathy was born on July 28, 1943, in Edgerton, Wisconsin, the daughter of Lloyd Benson and Evelyn (Anderson) Benson. She grew up in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1961. A year later, in 1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Gerald “Butch” Bergholz, in Cambridge. This union was blessed with their three sons, Kevin, Todd, and Brent.

Over the years, Kathy worked for the Cambridge News, M&I Bank, and Cambridge State Bank, and later as a Certified Nursing Assistant before retiring. Her kindness, strong work ethic, and care for others touched the lives of many throughout her community.

Kathy was an active member of several community organizations, including the Optimist Club, the Lioness Club, and the Jaycettes. She had a true gift for making every space feel warm and welcoming — she took great joy in keeping a beautiful home, decorating for every holiday, and cooking delicious holiday meals. At Christmastime, her home sparkled with joy, with a Christmas tree in every room, reflecting her generous spirit and love for family traditions.

A devoted member of East Koshkonong Lutheran Church, Kathy served faithfully on the Church Council and found strength and purpose in her faith and her church community.

Kathy is survived by her sons Kevin (Teresa Vicars) Bergholz and Brent (Debra) Bergholz; daughter-in-law Teresa Bergholz; sister Marilyn Gunderson; grandchildren Ashly (Damien) Dixon, Megan (Nathan) Kroll, Hayden Bergholz, Bethany (Macy) Osborne, Lauren (Steven) Oliver, and Parker Bergholz; and great-grandchildren Denali, Anika, Vince, and Billy James. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary (Roy) and niece and nephew Elsa (Rick) and Trevor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Butch” Bergholz; her parents, Lloyd and Evelyn Benson; her son, Todd Bergholz; and her brother-in-law, Gene Gunderson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church- 454 East Church Rd, Cambridge, WI, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Eric Hanson presiding. Kathy’s final resting place will be in East Koshkonong Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to East Koshkonong Lutheran Church in her honor.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Nitardy Funeral Home.

Kathy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her gentle heart, and the love she shared with family and friends. Her legacy of kindness, service, and devotion will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew her.
