Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Peter John Kokinda
August 12th, 1957 - November 3rd, 2025
Peter John Kokinda, of Venice, Florida, passed away on November 3, 2025. He was born on August 12, 1957, in Highland, Indiana, to Ilse (née Burkhardt) and Peter James Kokinda.
He is survived by his brother Jim (Wendy) Kokinda of Bradenton, FL, and his sister Judy (Dan) Hussey of Naples, FL; his niece Tracey (Ricky) Stroh of Rome, Italy; his nephew Jon (Erin) Kokinda of Wakefield, MA; and his treasured great-nieces and nephews — Kylie, Morgan, Maggie, Jake, and Joseph.
For 24 years, he lovingly cared for his pet bird, Max — a loyal companion who brought him great joy.
Pete had a gentle soul and an inquisitive mind, guided by a steady strength. He loved to understand how things worked, learn new things, play games with friends, and watch football. He was a car enthusiast and loved motorcycles, particularly his Honda Rebel 1100. Pete was devoted to martial arts, earning a 4th Degree Black Belt in TaeKwonDo. Pete was patient, building model ships and painting figurines from the fantasy worlds he read about so often. Pete loved visiting his parents in Florida, especially after the long northwest Indiana winters, and fulfilled his dream of retiring in the Sunshine State. There he greatly enjoyed time with family, especially Wendy’s home-cooked meals, Dan’s excellent grilling skills, interesting breakfast discussions with Jim, and countless outings with Judy.
Pete loved spending time by the water, whether biking to the beach, swimming, or sailing.
Before retirement, Pete worked tirelessly for many years for the Town of Highland, Indiana.
Pete will be greatly missed by his family and friends and remembered for his perseverance, quiet determination, and pure heart.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor at a future date.
