Sabas “Junior” Amaya Jr. passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, in Denver, Colorado, at the age of 84. He was born on October 10, 1941, in Bishop, Texas.

Junior proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1965 and was a dedicated member of several veterans’ organizations, including the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 375 in Aurora, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and the 1st Cavalry Division Association.

After his military service, Junior worked diligently throughout his career as an automotive mechanic, body shop manager, and mail handler for the United States Postal Service. His lifelong love of cars and motorcycles reflected his passion for all things automotive.

Junior was deeply involved in the “Vets Helping Vets” community, where he devoted his time to supporting and uplifting fellow veterans. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a devoted member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.

He shared over 30 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Becky Amaya, and together they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and mutual respect.

Junior will be remembered for his generous heart, steady spirit, and unwavering dedication to his country, his faith, and his community. He leaves behind a legacy of service and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Services will be held on Monday, November 11, 2025, at St. Dominic Catholic Church.

A funeral mass will take place from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., followed by a committal service with full military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.

Family and friends are invited to return to St. Dominic Catholic Church afterward for a reception celebrating Junior’s life.
