Martha Ann Newcomer
January 19th, 1928 - November 8th, 2025
Martha Ann Newcomer, age 97, went home to be with the Lord on November 8th , 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 19, 1928 in Zanesville, Ohio and spent the last 40 plus years in Venice, Florida where she was blessed to be close to her children, grandchildren and many cherished friends. Martha graduated with honors from Ohio State University in 1949 and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority while there. She was an active member of the Junior League in St. Petersburg, Florida and Winnetka, Illinois.
Martha became a member of Mission Valley Country Club with her late husband Charles on Feb. 2, 1981 where they were actively involved with golf and social activities with the friendships they made while being members for 44 years. She also was a club champion in 1985.
She served 25 years on the board of State College of Florida (formerly Manatee Community College) fundraising and organizing for the annual symphony concert, Under The Stars.
She also served many years with Venice Hospital foundation raising money for the hospital by hosting multiple galas over the years.
Martha and Charles were members of their beloved Venice Presbyterian Church since 1985.
Survived by her children James Nagelsen Jr., Joanne Nagelsen (Steven Sody), Helen McCormack, Michael Nagelsen (Nikka Nagelsen) and her grandchildren Jacquelyn Blackburn and Mary McCormack.
Memorials may be made in her name to Tidewall Hospice, ASPCA or a charity of your choice.
