Hazel Lynn Thompson
October 7th, 1959 - November 5th, 2025
Hazel Thompson, unexpectedly passed away peacefully the morning of November 5, 2025 at home. Hazel was born October 7, 1959 to Arthur and Margaret Futch in Venice, Florida. She was the middle of five children. Raised in Florida until six years old, her family moved to Moscow, Idaho in 1965.
Hazel was a good student, excelling in her studies graduating from Moscow High School in 1977. Following she attended Links School of Business in Boise, Idaho. She graduated with an associate's degree and then accepted a position at Cloverdale Funeral Home, where she stayed for 38 years. She accepted the Executive Administration position at Summers Funeral Home in 2017, where she worked until her passing.
Hazel caught the eye of Jon Thompson in the autumn of 1979, after three years of courting she accepted his proposal of marriage becoming his bride on September 4, 1982. In January 1985 their first child Erin would arrive, followed by Kile in June 1987, Ashby in March 1998, and Dilynn in June 1999.
Hazel had many desirable qualities, her most impressive was her ability to see the good in any situation or person. She was able to diffuse tense situations with her calming voice and disposition.
She is survived by her husband Jon; children: Erin (Daniel) Waller, Kile (Makenna) Thompson, Ashby (Ryan) Zimmerman and Dilynn (Harrison) Tanner; grandchildren: Chase Larsen, Gwendelyn Waller, Lilli and Bailee Thompson, Clayton and Harper Tanner, Warren and Wyatt Zimmerman; father, Arthur Futch Sr.; siblings: Arthur (Lee) Jr., Steve (Olga), Mandy (Tom) Rodriguez.
Services will be held at Summers Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 14th at 2:00pm. Please come wearing purple as it was her favorite color. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in honor of her generous spirit to the Meridian Food Bank.
