Stanley S. Patrick passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on the evening of November 4th, 2025. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Verlie Patrick (d. 2023). Stanley was born February 20, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Stanley and Anna Patrick.
Surviving Stanley are his daughter Michelle Patrick Tillis (Rich Miller), son Steven Timothy Patrick (Kirisa Smith); grandchildren Payton Tillis, Katelyn Tillis, Gabriel Patrick, Nevaeh Stephens, and Ellie Patrick; and sisters Phyllis Patrick and Arlene Fleury.
Stanley enlisted in the Navy in 1954 at the age of eighteen. He was in the Navy for two tours of duty. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars and was honorably discharged in 1965. Stanley moved to Columbia, South Carolina, with his wife and children in 1972 where he worked as an engineer at the Westinghouse Electric Nuclear Fuel division, in the Quality Control Engineering department. During this time he attended night school at the University of South Carolina, earning his Business Management degree in 1982. Stanley retired from Westinghouse as a Principal Engineer in 1997.
Stanley's post retirement years consisted of fishing, traveling and constructing various home improvements at his home in Columbia and his property on Lake Wateree. Most important to Stanley was making memories with his wife Verlie and encouraging her passions. After Verlie's passing, Stanley spent many sunny afternoons on the backyard swing, chatting with family and his great neighbor and family friend Lindsey Macchio.
A memorial service will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery on January 9th, 2026, at 2:00 pm. The family requests that donations to any charity be made in lieu of flowers.
