Renee Riley Gordon, 79, of Columbia, passed away on November 10.
Renee graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School in 1964. She then graduated from Palmer Business School. Following business school, she worked for the South Carolina Department of Education. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Travis Daniel Gordon, who preceded her in death, she worked as an assistant in the Lancaster School District at Buford Elementary School. After retiring, she rekindled her love of artwork. She painted and sold multiple pieces of work, most notably those featured at the South Carolina Statehouse and the South Carolina State Museum.
She is predeceased by her parents, Ralph Clinton Riley and Katherine Nelson Riley and her husband, Travis Daniel Gordon.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Gordon Cancilla (Mike); grandchildren, Samuel Joseph Cancilla and Claire Isabelle Cancilla; sister, Jeannie Riley Chewning; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 2pm at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation will be held one hour prior at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park 845 Leesburg Road Columbia, SC 29209.
