In Loving Memory

Our beloved Delia C. Biever, lovingly known as Nani DeeDee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, at her home in Salinas, California, at the age of 85, surrounded by her loved ones.  A long-time resident of Monterey County, DeeDee was born on July 9th, 1940, in Corpus Cristi, Texas.

DeeDee was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Alfred W. Biever, her parents: Josefa & Patrick Corona, her son: Joe Felix Diaz Jr., her brother: Candido Corona.

She is survived by her children: Annie (Ralph) Ochoa, Angie (Jose) Hernandez, Janie Ayala, Victor (Victoria) Castaneda, Sonya (Bill) Pottoff.  Her stepchildren: Germaine Dill, Janie Humada, Carol Flores, Michaela Jaynes, Alfred Biever Jr. and families.

Grandchildren: Vanessa (Ulysses) Mendez, Jojo (Joanna) Hernandez, Eliza Ochoa, Alyssa (Megan) Ayala, Johnny (Lianna) Castaneda-Gonzales, Danielle (Paul) Ramirez, Anthony Castaneda.  Great-Grandchildren: Xavier, Karissa Isabella and Sofia Mendez, Jordan Hernandez, Mathias & Theo Ramirez.  Also, many nieces and nephews, other Children & Grandchildren related to her by LOVE not blood.

DeeDee worked for many years at Salinas Co-Op and later she became a CNA and worked for Skyline Convalescent Hospital caring with devotion to her many patients.  Her final years she started her own housekeeping business in 1964.  This was more than just a cleaning service to her.  She became Nani DeeDee in the household.  She even made food and homemade tortillas for them.  She filled their home with her special touch and love.  Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.  She loved cooking meals that brought everyone together, especially for Friendsgiving each year.  We filled our home to more than 75-100 people for her special holiday celebration.  Sewing was also one of her passions.  She handmade pieces filled with love.  Her home was always open, good food, and the smell of something wonderful on the stove.  She was a woman of deep faith, and we always knew she was praying on her Rosary for each one of us.

Nani DeeDee will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her unconditional Love and Faith.

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
