James Edward Stakem of Falls Church VA passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025. Jim was born on January 8, 1951 in Richmond VA to Richard and Dorothy Stakem. He was the loving husband of Anne Stakem and the devoted father of Michael and his husband David Tepper. He was the cherished brother of Richard Stakem, Jean Martin, and the late Alan Stakem.
A graduate of the University of Virginia, with a degree in accounting, he went on to earn an MBA in Finance from the University of Oklahoma. As a Certified Public Accountant, he had an accomplished career in public accounting and commercial property management in Maryland, Rhode Island, Oklahoma, Virginia, and the District of Columbia despite moving every few years for Anne’s naval career.
Jim loved to travel, especially to the National Parks in the western United States, planning every detail of each trip. He still had half a dozen trips “on the shelf.”
With his kindness, generosity, quick wit, and sense of humor he will be missed by all.
If you wish to make a donation in his memory, please send it to your local food pantry.
Services will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
