Michael "Scott" Larsen
May 12th, 1956 - November 9th, 2025
Michael “Scott” Larsen, 69, passed away peacefully in his home in Meridian, ID, November 9, 2025, after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Tooele, Utah, May 12, 1956 to Bud G. Larsen and Louise Torgersen. They later moved to Salina, Utah, where he grew up.
Scott was predeceased in death by his father, Bud in 2003, his mother Louise Torgersen in 2009 and his sister Yvonne in 2018.
He is survived by his wife Eileen Larsen of Meridian, Idaho, his two sons Michael (Leslie) of Eagle Mountain, Utah, Rustin of Spanish Fork, Utah, two daughters Dedree Malone (Jacob) of Henderson, Nevada, and Kaylee Bowers (Justin) of Salem, Utah. Also, four step sons, Shane Sulz (Rachael) of Orem, Utah, Ryan Sulz (Julie) of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Darcy Sulz (Michelle) of Boise, Idaho, and Richard Sulz (Michelle) of Syracuse, Utah. He has twenty-one grandchildren with one on the way, along with three great grandchildren and one on the way. One sister Venise Knadle (Troy) of Odgen, Utah, brother Mark (Cindy) of Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming.
During Scotts youth he was in the Junior Riding Club for 2-3 years, and always rode his horse in the 4th of July parade. He was very active helping his Uncle Richard Criswell, on his farm, herding cows and lots of chores where he learned his awesome work ethic. Later he worked at his Uncle Richard’s Texaco station in Salina.
He played football in High School as a tackle, was the hunk of North Sevier and was nominated for best player in the region. Scott was Treasurer of FFA in his senior year. He was also involved as an officer in the Boys League.
He attended Snow college in Ephraim, Utah until he left for his mission to the Anchorage, Alaska Mission in 1975-1977.
Returning from his mission he started work at the Salt Mine in Redmond, Utah hauling salt to the various vendors.
He later went to work for Huff Trucking, meeting some of his best lifelong friends. They drove all over the western states, hauling things like jet fuel for the Helicopters used for Logging, Systemic and Medical purposes, to salt and cotton seed. He made many memories and great friendship bonds during this time and told stories of their trips, and how they teased and harassed each other during those 8-9 years.
After Huff trucking he went to work driving truck for PDM Service Centers in Spanish Fork, Utah hauling steel for various customers. Corporate PDM saw potential in Scott and started him in sales. He became well loved by his customers and could often sell to the customers who wouldn’t buy from PDM. He worked for PDM working up in the ranks from Assistant Manager
of the Spanish Fork branch, to Manager of a small branch in Boise, which supplied the local customers with steel. They closed the branch and he went back to outside sales until his retirement. Scott worked for PDM 30 plus years and always did everything he could to make sure his customers were taken care of. His loyalty to the company was uncanny.
He then drove school bus for a short stent and had many stories to tell about his experiences there. One such story was when he played the song, “The wheels on the bus”, for his middle school riders, who loved it and thought it was funny.
During his bus driving days, he was contacted by George of Schaeffer Industries in Pleasant Grove, Utah and became an outside sales rep in an office in Nampa, Idaho. He worked for Schaeffer for a couple years and didn’t want to relocate to Utah so he ended his employment with them.
He was then contacted by Brown Strauss Steel in Salt Lake City, Utah and went to work for them as a contracted outside sales rep while still living in Meridian, Idaho. His sales area was local so it was a very easy position.
Scott retired in Jan 2024, with plans to travel with the trailer and spend winters in warmer weather, but after a fun rendezvous with one of his best friends and their trip 4 wheeling to San Rafael Swell, southern Utah, he got sick, which later was diagnosed as pancreatic cancer.
He endured many chemotherapy treatments before his Whipple Surgery to remove the cancer. Then he suffered many setbacks from the surgery, a major artery blew out twice, resulting in a long stay in the ICU. A couple months after healing and getting back on his feet from that, he started the stronger dosage of chemotherapy which put him back in the hospital with Sepsis and other infections. Chemotherapy was halted and he stayed home, so there were no more ER visits or hospital stays. From this point on his care came from his family 24/7, along with Hospice, until his passing the morning of Nov. 9, 2025 where he went to sleep peacefully to rejoin his family waiting for him in Heaven.
He will be greatly missed by his family and even though we know we will see him again it will be hard to go on without him in our lives. Rest in peace Scott, till we see you again.
