Sandra Lee Don: A Life Honored

Sandra L. Don (Sandy) beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, surrounded by the family who loved her the most, following an eight-year battle with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Though her passing brings sadness, her family finds comfort in knowing she was embraced by those who cherished her as she made her final journey.

A Generous and Caring Soul

Anyone blessed enough to have known Sandy would describe her as selfless, genuine, and endlessly thoughtful. She had an uncanny gift for acknowledging the simple, yet important, moments of life. Sandy never forgot a birthday or a milestone, always finding a way—whether through a heartfelt card, a phone call, or an e-mail—to let people know they mattered.

Her professional life was a testament to her caring nature, as she proudly served as a dedicated dental hygienist for over 30 years, touching the lives of countless patients with her sincere spirit and bright smile. She was deeply compassionate and empathetic, offering comfort no matter the situation. She had a unique gift for knowing the right thing to say when someone was hurting, offering strength simply by being present.

Beyond her professional achievements, she was an avid philanthropist and volunteer, dedicating countless hours and resources to causes close to her heart, most notably the Tucson Classics Golf and Tennis Tournament. Later in her life she was passionate about dog rescue, opening her home to several foster animals. Her generosity and spirit of service were defining hallmarks of her character.

A Life Lived with Joy

Sandy was known for being outgoing, quick to laugh, and always the life of the party. She brought unmatched enthusiasm with her wherever she went and was sure to never turn down a margarita or a White Russian.

Her competitive spirit and love of movement carried her through many spirited tennis matches and into the world of pickleball. She was a natural athlete who didn’t just play—she shined, even earning a gold medal as a Senior Olympian. Sandy also held a tender heart for animals, especially her beloved dogs, Marley and Thor, who were cherished members of the family.

Family

Sandy leaves behind Michael, her devoted husband and steadfast partner of 47 years.

She is survived by her loving daughters Lindsay (Stephen Torowicz) and Kristin (Brent Charlesworth) and her precious granddaughters, Raine and Luna. These little girls will grow up knowing their grandmother’s love through stories, memories, and the beautiful spirit she leaves with them.

Legacy

As we say goodbye, we hold tight to the memories of who she truly was: a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, a loyal friend, and a gentle soul. Her presence created a lasting mark: an unwavering example of kindness, the spirited energy that defined her life, and a profound, enduring love that lives on in all who knew her.

We will miss her every single day, but we know her light will continue to shine in all of us. May Sandy rest in peace, surrounded by the same warmth she gave so freely during her time here.
