Sun City, Arizona...Arlene Elizabeth Janis, age 85,  beloved wife of 58 years to Henry Charles Janis died on Wednesday, November 12th, 2025 at Banner Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Arizona.

 

Arlene was born in Manhattan, New York on December 3rd, 1939 and she was the daughter of the late Arthur Carroll and Ella Kronenberger Carroll.  Married to Henry Charles Janis December 7th, 1957, they then traveled the world as a military family. During her lifetime, she was a dedicated military wife to her husband, a loving mother and homemaker to her family and an active member in her community. Upon their retirement from the US Navy after over 23 years of service, they continued to reside in Phillipsburg, New Jersey where her husband worked and retired from Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L).  While in Phillipsburg, she was active with the American Legion Post holding several local and state officer positions. After taking early retirement, they relocated to Sumter, South Carolina. She was active in the Red Hat Ladies and Sumter Newcomer's Club for over 20 years and held officer positions including Club President. Upon her husband's passing she moved to Sun City, Arizona where she resided for 6 years. She was active in the Sun City Advent Episcopal Church, participated in women social groups and continued to travel.

 

Surviving are three sons- Brian Janis of Las Vegas, Nevada; Kevin Janis and his husband George Kupczak of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey; Kenneth Janis and his wife, Melissa of Hellertown, Pennsylvania; one daughter- Kimberly Janis of Easton, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren- Jason Janis and his wife Beth, Madeline Janis and Daniel Janis; two great-grandchildren- Hailey Janis and Shea Janis. She also is survived by her sister, Debra Gagel and many nieces and nephews.

 

She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers- Robert Zielinski, Arthur and Dennis Carroll; one sister- Margorie Foldvary.

 

A memorial service will be held 10 am to 12 pm on Thursday, December 4th 2025, at the Regency Mortuary Chapel, 9850 W Thunderbird Blvd, Sun City, Arizona.  She will be interned with her husband at a future date to be determined at Arlington National Cemetery.

 

Memorials may be made to Sunshine Services, a non-profit organization which supplies free medical equipment to the Sun City community, located at 9980 W Santa Fe Dr, Sun City, AZ 85351 or a charity of one's choice.

 

The family has chosen Regency Mortuary for the arrangements as per her wishes.
