It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jose Angel Valdez, also known through loved ones as Papa. A beloved
father, grandfather and friend, who left us peacefully on November 10, 2025 at the age of 92
Born December 14, 1932 in Texas and later moved to the city of Salinas, where Jose was raised, started a career, and built a family .Growing up he enjoyed being a hardworking man and helping others. Jose began his career in the agricultural field, then later grew his love and passion towards mechanics. Working on cars and fixing anything he possibly could with a great amount of pride and joy! He was known for his love towards the gnarly sport of boxing. Jose fell in love and married his beloved wife Evangelina Valdez. They had a long marriage filled with unforgettable memories, happiness, and such love towards one another. Jose lost his wife Evangelina Valdez during the COVID-19 pandemic, after caring for her throughout her illness.
Jose was a strong member of the family , being extremely welcoming and open to anyone in need with no hesitation.
Jose is survived by his Daughters- Angela Valdez, Carmen Valdez, Alice Valdez, Maggie Valdez and son, Jose A. Valdez. Jose also was blessed to have 17 Grandchildren 34 Great Grandchildren and 18 Great Great Grandchildren.
A Viewing and service will take place at Healey Mortuary on November 21, 2025, from 8:00am - 10:30am, Chapel service will begin at 9:30am. Burial to follow at Garden of Memories
Memorial Park.
Flowers are welcome to be delivered at Healey Mortuary by Thursday evening.
