Dwight R. Carroll, 66, passed away unexpectedly on October 18, 2025. Born in Sweetwater, Tennessee, Dwight grew up surrounded by hillsides and the simple pleasures of small-town life. He is survived by his brothers, Ricky and Dale, and his sister, Becky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Carroll and Mary Hunt.
In his adult years, Dwight made Washington State his home, where he spent more than 30 years building a life filled with hard work, friendship, and love. He took great pride in his long career as a millwright, starting out with Tumwater Lumber, later working at Sierra Pacific Industries, and spending most of his journey with Alta Forest Products, formally Skookum, where he retired in January 2025. Dwight valued the strong bonds he formed with his coworkers and the satisfaction of a job well done.
A true Southern man through and through, Dwight was happiest outdoors—mowing the lawn, splitting firewood, or simply soaking up the day from his favorite lawn chair. He was a man of quiet strength and steady presence, with a rough exterior that hid a deeply kind and generous heart. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
More than anything, He loved his family and friends. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren, who adored him beyond measure. Kids of all ages were always drawn to Dwight—his laughter, his teasing grin, and the warmth he carried wherever he went. His favorite evenings were spent around the firepit, grilling up steaks with a cold beer in hand, music playing loudly, and good company close by.
Dwight is survived by his best friend and soulmate, Cindy; his son, Travis; his daughters, Brandy, Tera, and Bryttnie; and his five beloved grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and love that will continue to shine through all those who were lucky enough to know him.
A celebration of life will be planned for Summer 2026 to honor the wonderful man Dwight was and the countless lives he touched.
