It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alton Darwen Jackson, who passed away on November 13, 2025, in Lacey, Washington. Alton, who went by Jack and Big Al, was a devoted father, partner, brother, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Born on November 23, 1954, in Zimmerman, Louisiana, to Gertrude and Dave Jackson, Alton graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria, Louisiana, with the Class of 1972. Shortly thereafter, he began a distinguished 21-year career in the United States Air Force, serving from July 24, 1972, to July 31, 1993. His service took him around the world, with assignments in Taiwan, Japan, and throughout the Midwest, before ultimately retiring in Washington State.

Following his military retirement, Alton began a second career with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier, where he served his community with dedication, reliability, and kindness until his retirement in 2018.

Alton had a passion for international travel and loved cruising, yoga, watching football and baseball, and sharing good meals with those he loved.

Alton is survived by his daughter DaNay, longtime partner, Isabelle, sisters Linda, Bea, Pedi, Betty, Edna, and Yvonne, as well as many nieces and nephews. His easy-going nature and big smile will be remembered and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
