Macon, GA- It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Elzie "Skeet"(Tommy) L. Thompson, who departed this life on November 18, 2025. He was 78 years old.

Elzie was born June 6th, 1947 in Vienna (Dooly County, Georgia) to the late Elzie Lee Thompson and Pauline Harris Thompson. He was a decorated Senior Chief Petty Officer, and proudly served his country in the United States Navy and retired after 20 years of dedicated service.

He loved pranking family and friends, and often laughed at his own jokes before he could even get them out. Elzie had a passion for playing baseball as a child, and his joy followed him into adulthood in watching sports, including baseball (Braves!), basketball (Warriors!), and especially his beloved Georgia Dawgs!

Despite his own life struggles, his unwavering faith in God was his foundation, the core of who he was when he left this Earth. He truly believed in the Lord's message, and emulated that example as best he could in his daily life.

Elzie will be remembered as a man of action. His passion for helping others sometimes through their darkest moments will not be forgotten by those who knew him. He did much. He felt deeply. He loved with his whole heart.

Elzie was preceded in death by his wife, Delorese L. Thompson, who entered into eternal rest on March 12, 2024. He was also pre-deceased by his sister, Winifred T. Herring; brothers: Lawrence Randal Thompson, Jimmie Lee Thompson, and Harris Wayne Thompson.

He is survived by his children: William C. Hadaway (Laura), Thomas Lee Thompson (Cherie "Redneck"), Jennifer Linero (Alejandro), Christi  Morgan (Todd), and Christopher Williams (Megan); grandchildren: Brandon (Amy), Sydney Jordan (Roc), Noah Makai, Owen Idris, Gabriella Jade, Skyler, Lanier, Trent, Trista, Celena, and Cierra; greatgrandchildren: Easton, Tucker, Brady, Clark, Jaylen Marshall, Jace Maddox, and Jordyn McKenna; sister, Nedra T. Bradley; and a host of beloved extended family and friends.

A private graveside service and inurnment with full military honors will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens on Saturday, December 6th, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
