Janet C. Burtt, RN, age 78, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025. She was born on May 25, 1947, in Washington, DC, to Ervin and Rosalyn Shearin Crandell.
She moved to Charleston as a child and graduated from James Island High School in 1965. She loved her classmates and planned many reunions and events to keep them all connected. Her best friend, Jan Goin Beebee (Fruitheads Forever), and her Ramette friends were a delight to her as they stayed close for over 60 years.
Janet had a passion for caring and embarked on a lifelong journey to pursue a career in nursing. For over 30 years, she faithfully aided patients in both hospital and private settings. An accomplished author, Janet published two novels after retiring from nursing. She often blessed others with her creative talents in making floral arrangements, paintings, and other craft projects.
In 2005, she married Larry C. Burtt. He survives, along with her two daughters, Sallie Baldwin Spangenberg (Kirk), Jennifer Baldwin Berry (Scott), sons Chris Burtt (Cheryl), Guy Burtt (Alicia); grandchildren Bradley, Eleanor, Sarah Mason, and Gus. Also surviving are her siblings, Cathy Crandell Smail (Ken) and George Crandell (Carolyn), many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, and husbands, Billy Baldwin and Gene Shriver.
Janet was a caring, loving wife, mother, and proud Nana to her grandchildren.
A private memorial will be held for the immediate family at a future date.
