Logan Eugene Mercil, 21, of Boise, Idaho, passed away on November 15, 2025. Born on May 18, 2004, Logan was a gifted athlete who excelled in soccer, skateboarding, and snowboarding.
From an early age, he felt a strong calling to serve in the United States military, a dedication evidenced by his setting all his clocks to military time at just 13 years old. He met with recruiters from the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, ultimately choosing to join the Army Infantry.
He completed 22 weeks of intense boot camp and infantry school at Fort Benning, Georgia. During his time there, he made it a priority to attend church regularly and drew closer to God. He would call home every Sunday when possible, sharing the accomplishments and hardships of the prior week with his family.
Logan led with love; he was a loving young man who was cherished by many. He cared very much for his family and friends, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. We take comfort in knowing Logan is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Logan is survived by his loving parents, Mike and Jenni of Boise, Idaho; his sisters, Skyla and Madelynn; and his grandparents, Jean Mercil, Diana Russell and Alan Rose, and Jim and Marge Vogelpohl. He also leaves behind his uncles, Brian (Casi) and Jason Mercil, Travis (Christina) and Brad (Chelsey) Aeschbacher, and Jim (Renee) Vogelpohl, and his aunt, Dena (Anthony), along with numerous cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Randy Mercil.
