Edward J. Duckworth, beloved husband to the late Angela Duckworth (nee Madonna), father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025.
Known for his unwavering faith and love for life, Edward leaves behind a legacy built on service, devotion, and kindness.
Ed was a life-long, devout Catholic who attended mass every day and took pride in volunteering for his church. He found joy in giving back, especially to those who served, by starting The Veteran’s Ministry at Our Lady of Peace Parish in Williamstown, N.J.
Born with a strong spirit, Ed was proudly stubborn. Outside of his spiritual work, he embraced life and the simple pleasures that enriched his days: going out to lunch or dinner with family and friends, casting a line down in Cape May, tending to his vegetable and herb garden, cooking for loved ones, and solving crossword and sudoku puzzles.
Ed was a proud alumnus of St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia, where he rowed for a National High School Championship Crew Team. Later, he attended Villanova University on an ROTC scholarship and received an electrical engineering degree. After graduation, he spent four years in The United States Navy, serving his country with honor as a Lieutenant and traveling around the world. Once honorably discharged, he pursued a career that spanned over 25 years as a Manager of Operations for several manufacturing companies, including 3M and Brandt, while also continuing his education and earning an MBA in business management from Rutgers University. Ed valued education and intelligence.
Despite his accomplishments, Edward believed that life’s greatest gifts were his three children, Carolyn Morehead (Jim), Ed Duckworth (Rachel), and Michael Duckworth (Naomi); his seven grandchildren; Garrett and Christopher Morehead, Samantha, Emily, and Benjamin Duckworth, Savannah and Annie Duckworth, and his wonderful wife, Angela.
Ed is predeceased by his parents Margaret (nee Donnelly) and Horace Duckworth, loving wife of 55 years, Angela, and brother Jackie Duckworth. He is survived by his brother James Duckworth as well as many nieces and nephews.
Fondly remembered for his selfless contributions to the Catholic Church, making a darn good cheesecake and limoncello, and possessing a love for animals, especially cats. Ed will be missed but remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
