Frances McCormick Harrelson, 100, of Columbia, South Carolina, wife of the late Marvin "Buddy" D. Harrelson has gone to be with our Lord on November 25, 2025.
Frances was born on July 18, 1925, in Nichols, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence W. McCormick and Sarah McLean McCormick.
Frances was happily married to Marvin for 73 years. During their marriage, Frances was a true Marine Corps wife. She followed Marvin to every Military Base that he was stationed, where she made sure the family had a comfortable home.
Frances never met a stranger, and everyone was always welcomed into her home. Everyone always left with something special that came from Frances' generous heart. Everyone would leave with something, whether it was a loaf of homemade pumpkin bread, cookies or vegetables from her garden. She loved to see people appreciate her gifts.
Frances loved making porcelain dolls, pine straw baskets, Baking and traveling, but She loved nothing more than fishing and gardening with Marvin. Later in life, she loved walking around the pecan tree she planted picking up pecans, cracking them and picking them out to give away to friends and family.
Frances is survived by her children, Frances Marie Harrelson, David Michael Harrelson (Jean), Joan Harrelson Patry, Mark W. Harrelson (Cindy), and Patricia Harrelson Sloan (John). Her Grandchildren, Christine Harrelson Hoffer (Quincy), Stephanie Harrelson Cowart (Travis), Alyssa L. Sloan, and Genna Harrelson. She is also survived by her Great-Grandchildren and her beloved nieces.
Frances was predeceased by her siblings, Sarah Bernice McCormick Ham, Stephen McCormick, Louise McCormick Geiger and Malcolm McCormick.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 on from 10:00AM until 11:00 AM. A graveside service will follow the family visitation at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 with Reverend David Spears officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marine Corps, Toys for Tots Program.
