Virginia Lee Smith, 75, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on August 1, 1950, in Birmingham, AL, Virginia was an avid University of Alabama fan, (ROLL TIDE) lived a life marked by kindness, quiet strength, and an unshakable devotion to those fortunate enough to call her family and friend.
A proud resident of Summerville for most of her adult life, Viginia found joy in the simple beauties of Lowcountry living. She had a gift for making every person feel seen and valued, whether through a perfectly timed hug, a listening ear over coffee, one of her thank you/ birthday/anniversary and any other occasion cards she would hand write. Never to miss the opportunity to bring a smile to your face, you know you were special if you received one of her handmade and Virginia designed Christmas wreaths! Her 30-year career as an Art teacher at Westview Elementary and later at Westview Primary was high on her list of accomplishments. Her lasting influence on her students and their parents, the faculty, and the school staff members will be what everyone remembers and holds dear to their hearts.
Viginia is survived by her loving brother Kyle Patrick Smith and sister-in-law Kathy Hoke Smith of Conover, NC; her nephew Kyle Paul Smith III and his wife Rassamy and their two children Anousone and Khamlee of Kent, WA; and lifelong friends who will carry her light forward.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kyle Paul Smith, Jr and Mary Lee Smith; her older sister Paula Smith Winston all from North Carolina.
Viginia’s life reflected the gentle grace she carried in her heart. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her love, her warmth, her laughter, her unwavering love—will live on in every story told, every card written, and every life she touched.
Memorial services are planned for the spring of 2026 in Summerville with arrangements being announced in March of 2026 by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Westview Primary School, the American Cancer Society or simply an act of kindness performed in her memory—the gift she would have wanted most.
Rest easy, sweet Viginia. You were loved beyond measure, and you will be missed beyond words.
