With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Purandei “Radica” Appanna, 76, of Largo Florida. Radica passed away on Sunday November 23, 2025, at her daughter Anita’s home in Largo, where she had lived for the past 19 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose strength and steady kindness will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Radica was born on November 17, 1949, in Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara, Guyana. She was the daughter of the late Rigo and Sugie, and she grew up with two brothers the late Baasil and Krishna, and an adopted brother the late Latchman. She completed primary school and left at the age of 13 to care for her brother Krishna (Butto), showing the sense of duty and compassion that guided her throughout her life.
On November 27, 1966, she married the late Ramanand “Jano” Appanna. Together they built a life grounded in hard work and devotion to family. In Guyana she worked as a market vendor, and a few years after her husband’s passing, she moved to Florida to live with her daughter Anita. While living in Florida she worked as a Home Health Aide for assisted living facilities. She was deeply connected to her Hindu faith and found joy in cooking, singing bhajans, and sewing.
Radica is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ramanand “Jano” Appanna; her parents, Rigo and Sugie and her in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Appanna; her 3 brothers, Baasil, Krishna, and Latchman, brother-in-laws Samuel and Deo, sister-in-law Babi, and her nephew Prakash.
She is survived by her loving children and their spouses: Davo (and Nal) Appanna, Nanda (and Young) Prasad, Anita (and Darsh) Addy, Anand (and Amrita) Appanna, and Dinko (and Tasha) Appanna. As well as her adopted children Sree (and Nagesh) Aellanki and Brian (and Nadie) Singh. She was a loving sister-in-law to Lynette, Shama, Golin, Baby, Sissy, Eno, Leonard, Kenneth, and Rita. She was a proud grandmother to Steven, Andy, Varsha (and Marlon), Brian (and Ramona), Ryan, Shoba, Anesa, Nick, and Ashley, as well as a loving adoptive grandmother to Gayathri, Teja, and Brianna. She was blessed to have two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Rayan Prasad, who meant the world to her. She is also survived by her cousins, Baby, Indra, Chan, Chandra, Shanta, Anand, Victor, and Samad as well as her nephews and nieces, Satesh, Amar, Eshwar, Vicky, Robin, Devika, Nadie, Kevin, Navin, and Nikhi.
