Alice Elaine Clem, 96, of Fowlerton, passed away on December 3, 2025. A beloved wife, mother, teacher, and friend, Alice lived a long life marked by creativity, kindness, and dedication to her community.
Born on September 21, 1932, in Dothan, Alabama, to Kenneth France and Mary "Sharkey" France, Alice’s love for learning and the arts began early. She later attended the University of Alabama, proudly earning her teaching degree and began the path that would shape her lifelong passion for music education.
Alice spent her career as a music teacher, guiding generations of students and earning multiple county and regional awards for her school band performances. Her talent and commitment left a lasting legacy in the lives of countless young musicians.
After retiring, Alice continued to embrace the arts as a member of the Fairmount Library Art Club. She cherished the friendships she made there and remained actively involved in the community she loved. At home, she often sat at the piano, filling family gatherings with music and joy.
Alice is survived by her husband, Calvin Clem, and her children Gary Clem, Mark Clem, Allen Clem, Danny Clem, Lisa Clem, and Jody Garcia. She is preceded in death by her brother Marvin France and her daughter Diane Alstock.
Services will be held on December 6, 2025, with a viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Alice will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but the warmth she shared and the music she created will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and former students.
