Carole (Black) Taylor, better known as “Cookie” to family and friends, passed away at the age of 83, in Chandler, Arizona on Saturday, November 22, 2025 after battling pancreatic cancer for one year. She was born on May 29,1942 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Harry and Dorothy Black and the sister of Wayne Black of Moncton.
Trained as a nurse in Canada and also worked as a hospital nurse for 35 years at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. Upon retirement, Cookie and her loving husband of fifty-seven years, Richard Taylor, moved to Chandler Arizona, where they have lived for over twenty years.
Cookie is also survived by two daughters, Sherri Taylor of Chandler, AZ and Tracy Magnan of Port St. Lucie, Florida and two grandchildren Jaiden and Sadie of Port St. Lucie, Florida who will deeply miss their beloved “Nannie.” She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family in both Canada and Rhode Island, and she will be sorely missed by her family and all that were fortunate enough to know her.
Cookie lived a life of service as a nurse and in her community. Her loving and giving personality endeared her to her family and the many friends that she made over the years. After her work life and during her retirement in Arizona, she served her many friends and neighbors in the same way in which she served her patients with a caring, patient and loving demeanor, and she was known throughout her community as someone who could be counted on for both friendship and assistance.
In her spare time, Cookie enjoyed arts and crafts, baking, exercising in the pool and gym, and visiting with friends and family. She was truly a good friend to many and a wonderful wife, parent and grandparent to her family. Her passing will leave a huge void in the world, and she will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
