Marcy Haire Hinrichs, 71, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025.

Born on September 12, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edgar and Maxie Haire, Marcy was an extraordinary wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She was the kind of person whose unwavering support and joyful spirit left a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

As the eldest of three children, Marcy embraced her role wholeheartedly. From an early age, she confidently took charge—reminding her younger siblings that she “knew more” than they did, a claim they accepted without hesitation. One story her brother never forgot was the day older boys had been shoving him on the school grounds. He ran home upset, and Marcy immediately rushed out the door, fearlessly confronting the group and scattering them with a flurry of punches. It became one of her brother’s proudest moments—proof that his big sister was always in his corner.

Marcy’s love for the arts began early. She performed in numerous plays throughout high school and with local theatre groups. She later attended the University of North Carolina, majoring in broadcasting. After graduation, she followed her dreams westward, packing her blue MG sports car and driving to California to pursue work as a freelance production artist in the television industry.

Not long after arriving, she was offered an opportunity to work on a well-known TV show filming in Hawaii. After several exciting years there, Marcy felt the pull of the East Coast again. Her return included meaningful stops in Las Vegas and Tulsa, where she worked as a TV news director and producer. Eventually she settled in Charlotte, where she developed a passion for the food industry and built a long, successful career. No matter the job, what she cherished most were the friendships she made along the way—deep, lifelong relationships she held close to her heart.

A devoted Christian, Marcy loved her family, her friends, and her church. She was an active member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church, where she especially treasured her Sunday School class. She was also involved in a women’s Bible study group. She was a gifted cook, an enthusiastic decorator, an appreciator of art, an avid reader, and a joyful traveler.

Travel became an even greater part of her life after marrying her beloved husband, Ivan. Together they explored the world—journeys that included mission trips and profound experiences visiting the places where Christ walked and where the Apostle Paul ministered. Ivan opened the door to a breathtaking world filled with beauty and adventure, and Marcy treasured every moment they shared.

Marcy is survived by her loving husband, Ivan Hinrichs of Charlotte, NC; her brother Garette (Lisa) Haire of Mills River, NC; her sister Melinda Staples of Charlotte, NC; her niece Leah (Sam) Hendrix; nephews Brek Haire, Joshua Staples, Corban Haire, and Garrison (Mia) Haire; and cousins John Hair and Dan (Fern) Caddell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Maxie Haire, and her nephew Matthew Staples.

There are many words to describe Marcy –wife, sister, aunt and friend- but perhaps the best is “a woman after God’s heart”. She greatly desired to live a life that honored God.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Myers Park Presbyterian Church, 2501 Oxford Place, Charlotte, NC 28270 at 2:00pm on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
