Mr. Steven Wayne Mercer, age 64, a resident of Polk County, Florida passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Winter Haven Hospital. Mr. Mercer was born May 26, 1961, in Winter Haven, Florida to Joel DeWitt and Charlotte Frances (Connell) Mercer. He was a lifelong Polk County resident and graduated from Winter Haven High School. Steve enjoyed fishing, yardwork, his cats and spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother – Anthony DeWitt Mercer. Steve is survived by his daughter – Ashley Marie (Anthony) Shouppe; sister – Kathy Mercer (Donald) Gray; 2 brothers – Michael (Sandy) Mercer and Greg (Lisa) Mercer; 2 grandchildren – Easton and Jacob; nephew – Cody; 3 nieces – Ashley (Cory), Kaylee (Javier) and Alyssa; 2 great nephews – Finley and Levi and 3 great nieces – Noelle, Layla and Charlotte. There are no services scheduled for Steve at this time.
