🕊️ Obituary for Dina Sanders (Dinker)
Dina Sanders, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 05 2025 after a courageous and aggressive battle with cancer. She was 59 years old. Born on November 14, 1966, in Hialeah, Florida, Dina was the cherished daughter of Roy C. Sanders Jr. and Jewell Gerstman. In 1976, she moved with her family to Polk County, where she built a life centered around hard work, family, and a spirited love for competition. Dina graduated from Auburndale Senior High School in 1984. That same year, she began her dedicated career at Winn Dixie, where her work ethic and vibrant personality earned her the affectionate nickname "Dinker" from her colleagues, a nickname that followed her to her later work at Harvey’s. She also took pride in working for her father's auto parts store in Auburndale, showcasing her versatility and commitment. Outside of work, Dina’s true passion was bowling. She was exceptionally talented. At one point, her dedication led to her being recognized as one of the top lady bowlers of Polk County. She also found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially scratching her scratch-offs and taking trips to Homosassa to visit her Aunt Chris and Uncle Bobby. However, if she wasn't working, she was most happy at home, relaxing alongside her family. Dina faced her first monumental challenge in 2015 when she was diagnosed with cancer. True to her nature, she tackled the illness with incredible strength and determination, beating the cancer that year. Dina was a fighter—strong, resilient, and unwavering. When the cancer returned in October 2025, it was aggressive, but Dina met it head-on, fighting long and hard until the very end before going home to heaven. Dina was preceded in death by her loving father, Roy C. Sanders Jr. She is survived by: Mother and Stepfather: Jewell Elaine and James Larry Gerstman of Winter Haven , Sister: Angela Sanders of Winter Haven ,Niece: Morgan Sanders of Winter Haven, Nephew: Stephen B. Prince of Lakeland, Step-Son: C.J. Barnhill of Lakeland & Extended Family: Three stepsisters and two stepbrothers. Dina's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, remembering her as a hardworking, passionate, and fiercely loyal individual whose fighting spirit inspired everyone around her.
